A Brief History of the HALS Liaisons Network
The designation of historic preservation liaisons in Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ chapters began long before the Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS) was established. The original Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Historic Preservation Committee (now the ), organized in the 1970s, recognized the need to provide outreach and continuing education to colleagues about landscape preservation. This chronology outlines the history of HALS and the HALS Liaisons Network, up to September 2012.

Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Medallion Sites
As part of Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ¡¯s Centennial Celebration in 1999, 362 Centennial Medallions were awarded to projects across the United States that represented the best of what landscape architecture has achieved. The once-in-a-century Medallion Program was highlighted in an article in the November 1999 edition of Landscape Architecture magazine on pages 96-105.
