Invasive species and climate change are interacting to exacerbate negative impacts on native ecosystems. This talk will discuss several research projects aimed at informing proactive invasive species management in light of climate change, focusing specifically on managing the introduction of invasive plants through horticulture. Our current policy framework for addressing the issue of range expansion of invasive plants is insufficient, with a clear need for better regional coordination. Strategies for addressing this will be discussed, using examples from invasive species networks in the Northeast U.S. Case studies will include the Native Plant Trust's habitat management in Concord, MA, to protect a rare violet threatened by the continued presence and spread of glossy buckthorn.Ìý
